  18. <p>     While Spike Lee's Mo' Better Blues hasn't impressed many
  19. film critics, it has managed to unleash a wave of protest from
  20. Jewish groups objecting to the stereotypical portrayals of two
  21. unscrupulous jazz-club owners. Last week in the New York Times,
  22. Lee charged his accusers with applying a double standard.
  23. "Negative images of black people are presented on film and
  24. television every day and there is no great uproar," he wrote.
  25. For his next movie, about an interracial romance, he's expecting
  26. even mo' heat.
